What this job involves
We're looking for a Rate Liability Manager to join our Business Rates Team on established client instructions. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the local taxation system and be able to identify opportunities to generate savings for clients. They'll also be responsible for reviewing and approving liabilities, ensuring rebates are accurate and liaising with colleagues, clients and local government agencies.
What your day-to-day will look like
Managing assigned clients’ Business Rate, BID Levy and Council Tax liabilities across their property portfolio
Ensure all entitlements to reliefs are explored and claimed, ensuring demanded liabilities are correct and taking necessary steps where not to remedy
Liaising with clients, surveyor’s, Local Authorities, and Valuation Office in respect of changes to the property portfolio from both an occupational basis or amendments to the Rating List
Recovering overpayments from Local Authorities
Highlighting appropriate opportunities within a portfolio to the wider JLL Rating Team
Ensuring the Riverlake database is maintained to accurately reflect the current position of the client’s portfolio
Manage clients contracted service level agreements and expectations to ensure compliance
Operate as a client contact, attend meetings and providing support and advice
Desired or preferred experience and technical skills
Experience of the Business Rates system as a Rate Account Manager or from Local Authority background
Knowledge of rating case law and legislation
Good analytical and reporting skills
Familiarity with Riverlake, Analyse and Softology software
Professional attitude
Ability to manage and prioritise own workload and assign tasks to administrative support
Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
